Hi folks
I remember a little article in the past year about some speaker stands/feet that used magnets to "float" the speaker. Can't find them for the life of me on the AT site or the net. Does anyone know about these and what they were called?

Use a few marbles or ball bearings.
This kind of stuff is for audiophools.
Do you really believe this?
"Neolev magnetic levitation dampers are our latest development. Placed under Speakers, CD/DVD players, turntables, speakers etc., they eliminate acoustic feedback and mechanical distortion to bring out the full potential of your gear."

I think Triton Audio is a Dutch company, which explains everything. But yeah, I call bullshit.

Geoff, I think that in regards to turntables, this is a very real concern.

I'm not disagreeing about removing acoustic coupling through planar surfaces by isolating them in some way. Nor is using maglev a bad idea. It's the marketing words that make me cringe.Words like 'eliminate' and 'mechanical distortion'...
You could just as easily use fluid-damped shock absorbers (even fill them with snake oil if you like), small points of contact (like marbles) etc to achieve the same result. It also depends on what the radiating surface is coupling to. There's a big difference between sitting a speaker on a hollow timber surface and a solid concrete surface, and most will have something between these extremes.
Same with turntables. There will be some acoustic coupling directly through the chassis and whatever it sits on. Many turntables already have shock and acoustic dampening feet incorporated into them. Other coupling will occur directly through the air into the surfaces of the turntable, not transmitted from adjoining solid sufaces. These are not controllable using special feet, instead the turntable design must have dampening within its contruction to reduce the effects.

LOL!
They do use a 'liquid' silicon to reduce shock on tone arms.
You're on the money again, Geoff.

Hi,
We distribute Triton Audio here in Australia.
The difference NeoLev makes to our Quested F5's is unbelievable. We had 1 F5 on NeoLev and one not, and the difference was huge. All those cliche phrases often abused were unfortunately possibly the best way to sum up the difference. Lower and tighter bottom end, clearer and sweeter top end, a deeper and more transparent sound stage. It all came true.
If you can do this with a bit of foam, a couple of marbles or wire and stickytape then good on you!
Brad Watts (the reviewer) loved them so much, he opted to purchase the set he reviewed rather than send them back.
I'd be happy for anyone genuinely interested to purchase a set, if you don't believe their worth what you pay for them, send them back and we'll refund you!
I believe NeoLev to be most effective under NearField monitors. 2nd most applicable application would be under a TurnTable. Other than that I have plenty of people "Float" their amps, preamp's etc. and they assure me they can hear the difference. I have never tried, so I can't comment.
Please give us a call if you want to talk about NeoLev or anything Triton Audio. We're not selling snake oil, we believe all the products we distribute to be useful and exceptional value for money.

What's your company's url? And how much do they go for? I am willing to try new things if you are offering a money back guarantee...
