Crewing sucks!

I've been doing stagehand/crewing work for a particular company for 18 months now and just about all the work I've had is for lighting and visual companies. Makes sense I guess because there is a lot more (time and labour) involved in setting up lights than there is in getting a PA up and going. Lighting however bores me to death and the company I work for doesn't offer much chance for career progression.
I dig audio, are there any companies in Sydney that are more audio focused?
I want to get into live mixing and recording eventually.
Thoughts?

Hi Travis, I'm on the wrong side of the country to recommend any particular Sydney companies, but the fact that you are involved in staging/lighting already should be really on your side as far as getting work elsewhere. You know the rules, how the whole thing works. If you dropped a CV/letter into any of the major PA companies and explained exactly what you've said here- that you're more interested in audio and not getting it where you're currently working- you'd probably get a call.
My point is your experience in the industry is still valuable, even if it is lighting.

Did you have a word for the mob you work for yet?
If you are reliable etc, I'm sure they'd want to keep you on their books.
