Ok time for a proper update (sorry guys, I am going out of my mind with boredom, no amount of valium and wine is relaxing me) but I did a little more work on my remix of Paranoia.
I was having trouble getting the Audio Snap Palate to work and after getting some info from the Sonar forum, I now know what I am doing.
Once upon a time Sonar had this massive toolbar which was configurable, so you could access the Audio Snap Palate or the markers screen, blah, blah, blah. Now they have all these cool drop down menu's which take the place of the bloated toolbar.
When I started using Sonar X1 and the Audio Snap Palate, I couldn't get the transient markers to appear, in the track veiw on each track now there is a drop down menu that allows you to turn the transient markers on or off or the automation data on or off.
This is a really cool feature, and one I agree with because it gets rid of the clutter.
Christ what a wanka I was, I thought X1 was the end of the world turns out it's a new and better world.
More to come, Paranoia should be finished in a day or two, if I can concentrate instead of being bitter toward universities and wankademics, oh yea I am one of those wankademics. I think, it say's on wiki any one with a masters degree can be called a wankademic.
Peace Ben

Ben, you need to separate your OS from your apps. These are separate stages in the conversion process.
You can run 32-bit apps (Soanar) with all the 32-bit plugins on the 64-bit OS. You won't have to worry about the bridges crashing or incompatibility, provided your hardware drivers are available in 64-bit, as most are by now.
The upgrade to 64-bit consists of hardware, of which most modern hardware is 64-bit, OS and drivers, available in 32 and 64-bit flavours, and applications. You probably already have 64-bit hardware. The choice of OS is the next consideration.
That's right.
I think the old Athlon was the first consumer 64 bit chip and only linux could take advantage of it.

Ok so I got through my first test of Sonar X1 relatively unscathed, I enjoyed all the changes funnily enough, I liked the ability to turn the tool bar on and off in the piano roll screen.
I ended up using multiple instances of Audio Snap Palate and VVocal and not one crash but I was sarting to max out the power and this is because I was lazy and should have started freezing finshed tracks.
I was really impressed in the end with the Soft Tube module and the Prochannel in general, I would not use it for everything but I liked how it sounded and felt like a real console. The gremlin of the mixing screen jumping around reared it's ugly head but apperently this has been fixed.
So for remixing I would highly recomend X1 (for what little it's worth).
Now I haven't finished my adventures, I have to test out quite a lot more.
For one I didn't use any of my real compressors to master this track, and to do a proper live recording is also needed.
So I will continue my adventures, next is a clean install starting from 6, then 8.5 and then Project 5 to see how they all react when I reinstall X1 and then there are those qucikfixes.
Hope everyone enjoys the tune.
Peace Ben

Ok time for an update of sorts, I have formated my C: drive and am in the process of putting everything back on, including Sonar 6 and 8.5 and Project 5.
I am putting all these older programs on as well as X1 as that seems to be the general consensus over on the Sonar forum. It also means things that have been left out of Sonar, leagcy effects and instruments can still be accesed.
I am also for the first time using a seperate hard drive for all my samples, including my instruments Beatscape, Dimesion Pro and Notion 3.
Will keep everyone posted.
Peace Ben
