I've been trialling Adobe Audition CS6 and I have to say that it is pretty frickin' awesome. The software feels extremely fluid and fast to use. Must say, I probably wouldn't use it to record or mix a band, but for editing, compiling, finalising and even mastering audio for various film, AV and theatre projects it is fantastic. Support for VST plugins has been vastly improved and I am loving the new "rack effects" concept in the Edit View.
Still bugs me that there are no hardware inserts (you have to do the whole annoying "out of software mixer to interface, back in from interface to software mixer via new channel" thing... ugh!), which makes it annoying to use with outboard. Also, forget about MIDI, but I don't think this software is geared towards creating music anyways.
It also really grinds my gears that Adobe Australia sells it for $580 when US customers only pay $350 for the exact same digital download.
