Hopefully people with experience can advise those without it, how best to proceed when you feel you have written that "Gotye style" no.1 single.

Advice on when it's best to go with the old model (The record companies).

Any pitfalls along the way.

It's a shame you're in Sydney, because the Reason Producer's Conference on Saturday in Melbourne will probably answer a lot of those questions regarding copyright and how to get your music out there. We covered the last one in Issue 64. Of course, things have changed since then, there was even a representative from Myspace on the panel back then. Though there's still a lot of good information about divvying copyright up, and how to promote your music.

This is of course a can of worms topic though. With things like Creative Commons models, the 1000 fans model, Facebook screwing with us every day of the week, miniscule streaming payouts, etc.
