Shure announces the latest additions to its line of KSM microphones – the KSM42 and KSM44A. The KSM42 is a side-address, cardioid condenser microphone for premier vocal recording, while the KSM44A is a large-diaphragm, side-address condenser mic designed for use in a variety of live and studio applications.

Both microphones feature ‘Prethos’ Advanced Preamplifier Technology that purportedly provides provides transparency and extremely fast transient response, and eliminates crossover distortion. The KSM42 includes an open cage ‘ShureLock’ rubber suspension shock-mount with a low-profile ‘PopperStopper’ magnetic pop filter. Pricing is yet to be announced for Australia but both microphones should be available soon and carry a two-year limited warranty.
