PONY MUSIC

Published on June 24th, 2010

Pony Music Control Room

Pony Music incorporates the best of both recording spheres, with an analogue front-end to ProTools via top-shelf mic preamps and analog to digital converters. The studio is centred around a massive live room (10 x 8 x 5.5m), and the control room provides an acoustically pleasing space with numerous options for obtaining different sounds.

Pony studios prides itself on the vibe of the establishment – the crew at Pony know the worth of  big spaces, comfortable couches and lounge areas, along with all the modern conveniences such as DVD, XBOX, and Playstation. Plus, the studio is close to restaurants and the pub!

Pony cater for pretty much any possible recording scenario, including re-amping, mixing, corporate audio production, voice-overs, and sound replacement. The rig includes a 34 input/16 output ProTools HD 2 Accel system with a Digidesign C24 console, along with a Universal Audio UAD2 Quad plug-in card. Conversion is courtesy of Apogee 16X AD and Lynx Aurora 16X AD/DA converters. Clocking is via the Universal Audio 2192 AD/DA converter/clock. Preamps and assorted outboard include both new and vintage classics such as; 4 x API 512C, Telefunken V76 and V72 Mic Pres, Neve 33415s, Universal Audio UA2108s, Amek 9098DMAs, Great River ME-1NV, AEA TRP Ribbon Mic Pres, along with compression from Universal Audio, Empirical Labs Distressors, Dbx, Neve, and the venerable SMART C2. Pony’s mic cabinet sports  mics from Neumann, sE, Beez Neez, Mercenary Audio, Mojave Audio, AEA, Shure, Oktava, Rode, Sennheiser and Audix. For a seriously exhaustive list of outboard, instrumentation and back-line, see the Pony Music website.
