British ‘boutique’ synth maker, Analogue Solutions has announced its all new Nyborg-12 is now shipping.

The Nyborg-12 is a Telemark SEM semi-modular synthesiser, in the style of Tom Oberheim’s original 1974-vintage SEM (Synthesizer Expander Module). It features a 2-Pole 12dB/Octave multimode filter, with Notch, LP (lowpass), BP (bandpass) and HP (highpass) settings, combined with a standalone monophonic synthesiser module, full steel/aluminium casing and real analogue voice and modulation circuitry.

Apart from its 16-bit DAC, MIDI and control voltage conversion, the entire synth is an homage to the days of analogue, without any digitally controlled oscillators, envelope generators, or CPU-stabilised/quantised circuits. AS has built this thing like a true vintage analogue synth, by hand, using 70s-designed circuitry, transistors and op-amps.

It has an abundance of potentiometers (aka dials), with aluminium-capped knobs that are dust-resistant and fully sealed. Featuring two Voltage-controlled Oscillators (with octave, modulation, frequency pass, and width); an LFO (low frequency oscillator) with triangle & square wave modulation and a mode switch for routing to CV2 (velocity controlled voltage) or S+H (sample & hold) to the Multimode Filter; a VCA (voltage-controlled amp) with EG2, Gate, Bypass or Cycle controls; an Audio Mixer (with VCO 1, VCO 2, Noise/Sub); and two Envelopes (VCF & VCA).  It also comes with external CV (EXT 1 & 2) sockets for Pitch1, Pitch2 (both VCO), CutOff (filter), Gate (to trigger EGs) or DAW integration; along with MIDI (In and Thru).
