A new control surface designed for DJs has been released today from Native Instruments – the Traktor Kontrol S8, designed to simplify the live-editing and remixing workflow.
The all-in-one S8 features touch-sensitive controls, full-color displays, a 4-channel standalone mixer, an on-board audio interface, and enhanced decks for integration of Traktor Pro 2’s Remix Decks. There are two wide touch strips for precise track seeking/pitch-bending directly on the unit and a detachable fader panel fitted with patented inverse carbon strip faders (faders are replaceable, prolonging the life of the unit).
New tools for live improvisation, such as ‘Freeze Mode’, which allows you to take a snapshot of a running track and slice it in anywhere.
The unit comes with connectivity for up to four turntables or CDJs – for analog or timecode vinyl/CD control with the included Traktor Scratch Pro 2 software. Including a dedicated Remix Deck View which provides control of Remix Sets, samples, and loops while monitoring a deck in full-view on the displays. Remix Deck functions can also be controlled with timecode media for extended hybrid analog/digital control.
The XLR, ¼”, and RCA signal outputs from audio interface surpass that of any current Traktor product, and easily rival CDJ output levels.
Pricing and Availability
Traktor Kontrol S8 is now available online and in stores worldwide, with a RRP of AU$1,599.
